WHAT’S NEW? … THE ROSE OF SHARON BLOOMS!
The first of my Rose Of Sharon plants burst into stupendous bloom over night. The ROS is hardy ornamental shrub Hibiscus syriacus of supposed Biblical heritage. It’s a non-tropical form of hibiscus that can survive our frigid winters. I actually grew eight plants from seeds I abducted from a nunnery several years ago, and last year several finally produced a blossom or two. This year it looks like several will be in full bloom mode through summer and fall.
And if you look closely at the photo, you might notice Mlle. Renee in the background behind the plants.
30 DAYS OF CREATIVITY … DAY 3: OKLAHOMA STYLE CORN
Oh, what a beautiful morning … and going with the theme of the day for a change, which was CORN, my effort is both on topic and also tongue-in-cheekly corny. I also searched around and found my old drawing pad and water-colors which were last used when I was in college way too many decades ago and attempted a drawing of an Oklahoma elephant. Sorry about the elephant’s too-pink nose. The colored marker I use was supposed to be flesh colored. Nice ear of corn, too … an’ it looks like its climbin’ clear up to the sky. And actually, it’s from Colorado. But what’s the difference, it will taste great for my dinner tonight.
