30 DAYS OF CREATIVITY … DAY 4 – OLD FRIENDS … JUST HANGING OUT!
On the 30DOC Inspiration Calendar the Day 4 theme was TROUSERS … as in pants, slacks, jeans, pantaloons, breeches and any other garment shaped to cover the body from the waist to the ankles or knees with separate tube-shaped sections for both legs. I’ve always felt that pants have an identity of their own, though it’s probably a split personality because they’re always referred to as a “PAIR” of whatever they are — even though they’re really only one. So I decided to show them as old friends … just hanging out together.
OK, so the prep for this project also allowed me to get a little laundry done, too.
30DOC – Day 4
OUTSMARTING MYSELF!
I knew that the 30 Days Of Creativity project was coming up well over two months ago and I was thinking of the various ways I could use my creative talents. Last year I made a sock puppet of Mlle. Renee, I made a bus top bench starring Mlle. Renee and promoting rescue dogs, I created several unusual recipes and ate at several unusual places and I created a folded flower potted plant. Unfortunately, I failed to tuck a few of the unusual photos I’ve taken during the past year in a special 30DOC file folder.
Because when I downloaded the 30DOC Inspiration Calendar for 2012 last week, I realized that I had used two ideas for other posts that would have been perfect for Day 1 -Pick Your Seat and Day 2 – Fire. So I had to come up with other creative ideas that really weren’t really on topic with the inspiration calendar. Sure, I know you don’t have to follow the calendar suggestion with your creativity, but I had wanted to challenge myself a bit more.
So here’s what I would have posted for Day 1 and Day 2 if I hadn’t originally used them for something else.
DAY 1 – PICK YOUR SEAT
This would have been the perfect submission for Day 1, if I hadn’t used it two weeks ago in a post titled STREET SCENES.
DAY 2 – FIRE
I had the perfect photo for FIRE which I had entitled PHOENIX RISING. I even have it framed and hanging on my wall. Unfortunately, I had deleted the file from iPhoto last month when I was trying to make iPhoto work faster by clearing out some of the files that were clogging it up. Phoenix Rising was actually born last year during the 2011 30 Days of Creativity. My project was to print a famous painting
on both sides of a sheet of paper and then fold the paper into an origami cat. That way, Georges Seurat’s Un dimanche après-midi à l’Ile de la Grande Jatte would have become my Le grand chat de papier plié.
Amazingly, everyone who saw the cat was able to recognize my painting swipe. And folding the cat really wasn’t an easy task. I probably folded a dozen cats before I found one that met my artistic standards. The rejects were crushed and dumped in my waste can. And when I was throwing the crushed cats in the recycling cart one of them caught my eye. It looked like a phoenix rising from the fire. So always being a firm believer in waste not-want not, I mounted the cat on a sheet of colored stock and put it in an old shadow box frame.
Like I said, it would have been a perfect entry for Day 2′s FIRE theme. Unfortunately, I didn’t find the photo files until I was trying to figure out what I was going to do for Day 4 where the inspiration theme is TROUSERS. Really, TROUSERS‽ And I just realized that a picture of me reading my kindle under the shade of the backyard trees would have worked for a FIRE entry, too.
