THE MORNING AFTER THE DAY BEFORE.
Yesterday, I celebrated my birthday and to celebrate I cooked myself a very special dinner.
My own very special version of Chicken Parmesan.
Rather than topping it with some form of tomato sauce from a can or jar, I actually serve it on top of my diced Italian tomatoes with garlic, onions and fresh basil. Also served with a baked potato on the side and toasty Italian bread, too.
And with the birthday cupcake for dessert, I wasn’t really hungry when Mlle. Renee woke me up this morning. So Renee and I spent the morning sitting around in the back yard … her tearing up the box her doggie SNAPS came in and me reading Rob Byrnes’ new comic crime caper STRANGE BEDFELLOWS. Around noon I started thinking about what I was going to fix for brunch.
Dropped Biscuits baked in the muffin tin.
But not just plain dropped biscuits! But dropped biscuits spread with …
… and drizzled with maple surple!
That cinnamon/sugar butter was great. It made the biscuits taste like sticky cinnamon buns! And who could ask for anything more?

“The Morning After The Day Before.” One of my favorite Shelley Berman bits. Happy birthday by the way.
Thanks, you know you’re getting old when the most memorable part of your birthday is what you ate.
Biscuits!
I know, I made you hungry again.
The biscuits always make me hungry.
Also, that chicken with all those fresh ingredients sounds mighty tasty.
I was quite good, but the tomatoes needed the addition of green and red peppers.
I COULD have put these all in one comment, but that would have been sane. Everyone seems to have a copy of Rob’s new book but me. I need to correct that ASAP.
I think it’s just reaching the retail bookstores now.
Murder By The Book has ordered some copies. I will have it soon.
