Weekly Photo Challenge: Changing Seasons

‘Tween
The season between the colorful foliage of autumn and the ice and snow-covered vistas of winter is one of visual desolation. The trees are barren and twisted skeletons of their summer selves. The skies are grim, dark and foreboding with no hint of summer’s sunny days. The ‘Tween season is a season waiting for something else to happen. Something to excite us … or depress us? We just have to wait and see.

I know the trees are pretty all dressed up, but this is when we get to see how interesting their structures are. It’s also when the birds and squirrels can’t hide from us.
Actually I have four trees (the spruce and three red cedars) where all the birds in the neighborhood nest at night. The chirping is unbelievable when the sun begins to set and they settle in for the night.
Around here, it’s the mourning doves I hear settling down and waking up.
