JUST ARRIVED …
At long last, the first locally grown tomatoes have reached the stupidmarkets! And they taste summer-lusciously fantastic. The overly long mid-summer HEAT WAVE finally broke thursday evening and I woke up friday morning with the urge to get up and go. And go meant going to get my hair cut, picking up some teeth cleaning chews for Mlle. Renee, dropping by to visit my brother on his birthday and stopping by the stupidmarket.
I could hardly wait to get home … since the smell of the tomatoes in my shopping bag were building my craving for a BLT.
Arriving home I threw a couple of slices of wheat bread in the toaster and a few slices of bacon in the skillet.
It was perfect and I began constructing my sandwich.
Unfortunately, the lettuce in the fridge hadn’t survived the wait for a real tomato. So I ate a BT-L instead. Who needs lettuce when you have real tasty summer tomatoes‽ This afternoon … a sliced tomato sandwich.
30 DAYS OF CREATIVITY – DAY 27
It’s Day 27 already …
and I decided that since it really feels like summer, it was time to start my day with my favorite SUMMER BRUNCH!
It’s cool, quick and delicious! Fresh thick-sliced home grown (Arkansas) beefsteak tomatoes that completely fill slices of toasted wheat bread, cool midget watermelon wedges, a bottle of Fitz’s, Saint Louis’ favorite root beer and a half finished daily puzzle.
