DAILY CALENDAR CHALLENGE #105 – APRIL 15

#1 THE ORIGAMI CALENDAR CHALLENGE – CHAIN-LINK BRACELETDSC06523

I knew that weekend message regarding the guy who made the endless link-chain  out of folded gum wrappers was there for a reason. And the other calendar page dropped revealing the Monday challenge that kept me rather busy Sunday afternoon. You know I don’t to anything half way, so when calendar instructions asked for three sheets of 8 X 10 printer paper I found a nice Monet painting to print on the three sheets.DSC06521

It was a painting of Mr. M’s garden with a lot of irises, poppies and other flowers I can’t recognize. As if you’ve ever been able to identify a flower in Monet painting that wasn’t labeled. Then I cut the three sheets into exactly into 24 gum wrapper-sized mini-sheets …

… and started folding!

RAF STL Thank, God, our classical music station that was hijacked three years ago to become a Christian rock music station three-years ago, returned to the airways in a new guise last week thanks to a number of civic-minded corporations and local art organizations. It took three years to get through all the FCC red tape. It’s not a clear channel station anymore and it doesn’t even rate call letters, but it can reach most of the metro area. So I had an afternoon of uninterrupted music without getting up to change the CD to fold and assemble my chain links into a bracelet.

The Monet artwork gives the bracelet a jewel-like look, doesn’t it?DSC06529

#2 THE MENSA PUZZLE CALENDAR – WEBSITE  INSERTSDSC06530

Solving this puzzle was easy once you figured out what the seven-letter social media website was.  Thankfully, I could only think of three.

  1. We used to make those gum wrapper chains. When my sister was in high school, you made them the height of your true love. Her true love was six feet tall. That was a lot of gum wrappers!
