Weekly Photo Challenge: Culture

SHARE A PHOTO THAT MEANS CULTURE TO YOU!

Ok, so what is CULTURE? I could probably fill this page with all the recorded definitions of culture and still not give you a common definition on which we would all agree.

I guess for me culture is sharing and learning about all best that man has achieved …  past, present and future. But to show it in one photograph?  IMPOSSIBLE!  But there is one item I alway visit the Saint Louis Art Museum. It’s a Chinese sculpture of a horse probably dating back to an era when man had just domesticated the beast. I think that qualifies as culture.Chinese horse

This is my most recent photo of the sculpture that I made two days ago.

About Robert Edler

... a somewhat unknown and/or imaginary actor, writer, director, producer, photographer, friend, brother, uncle and all round good fellow that you really should get to know because he lives with that most glamorous fourpaw Mademoiselle Renee. (Mlle. Renee for short)

  1. Great sculpture and nice photo of it!

    • Thankfully the museum has no restrictions on the use of non-flash photography. (Except for special traveling exhibits from other museums.) Currently they’re preparing the original building for the June opening of an addition that will discretely wrap around one side and the rear of the current building. So they’re hanging a lot of works that have been in storage in the original galleries. On my Wednesday visit, I found and photographed 76 items that caught my fancy that I had never seen before. They’ll be showing up in future posts here.

  2. I love this sculpture. And I look forward to the future photographs.
