DAILY CALENDAR CHALLENGE #147 – MAY 27, 2013

#1 THE ORIGAMI CALENDAR CHALLENGE – SWAN

DSC07306The object of today’s calendar page is to cut out the blue bordered rectangle crease the paper along all of the dotted lines, collapse all creases simultaneously into folds and then make one cut with a scissors to prove the Demaine Brothers theorem that the resulting cut will cut out the shape of the swan. Not really origami … so instead of wasting my time making all those tiny creases and folds that would have driven me crazy I made a real folded paper origami swan.

DSC07308And it’s a pretty elegant looking swan if I must say so myself.  Enjoy!

#2 – THE MENSA PUZZLE CALENDAR – AMERICANADSC07312I figured out all of the answers except #4 and #6.

AND THE ANSWERS ARE:

lleb ytrebil, kwah yttik, tlevesoor yddet, sllaf acenes, gnihsrep lareneg, etats ytilauqe

#3 THE PAGE-A-DAY PUZZLE CALENDAR – HIDATODSC07311Couldn’t help myself, I started working this puzzle right away. The ball pen numbers are those I know are correct. The pencil numbers are just my guesses. Which just goes to prove, never work a puzzle with a pen until you know the numbers are in the right spots. I’ll finish the puzzle while eating lunch today.

AND THE SOLUTION IS:

  1. Origami swans now remind me of the TV show “Prison Break,” after a friend talked me into watching the first season on Hulu.
