MY DAILY CALENDAR WEEKEND EDITION / SATURDAY DAY 228 OF 2013: Renee and I had a Let’s Pretend vacation day sitting in the shade of a tall palm trees on a tropical island. Actually, we were sitting in the back yard in the shade of the tall cedar trees, but the cool breezes that surrounded us sure felt tropical. I got lost in a novel on my Kindle, and Renee captured a crystalline creature which she crushed in her mighty jaws. If you’re not old enough to remember live Saturday morning kid’s radio, you probably never even heard of  Let’s Pretend. It was a Peabody Award winning show that ran for over two decades  … through the 30s, 40s and into the 50s until the final show on October 23, 1954. Click the link below to hear the Cream of Wheat jingle that opened every Saturday morning episode of the show.

Those were the days when the red and yellow streetcars were the main mode of public transit in the city of Saint Louis.StLouisTrolleys

The Grand Avenue Line was the streetcar I rode on most with my family. Enough nostalgia, on with the weekend.

As you probably guessed already, no origami projects for the weekend, but I do have a couple of Mensa puzzles to give you something to do.17:18

I’ll think of something more exciting to post for the Sunday edition.

About Robert Edler

... a somewhat unknown and/or imaginary actor, writer, director, producer, photographer, friend, brother, uncle and all round good fellow that you really should get to know because he lives with that most glamorous fourpaw Mademoiselle Renee. (Mlle. Renee for short)
