MY DAILY CALENDAR…DAY 235 AND 236 – AUGUST 24/25, 2013

MY DAILY CALENDAR FOR SATURDAY DAY 235 OF 2013: If the cupboards hadn’t been bare, I sure wouldn’t have gone grocery shopping today. But food is a necessary evil and I didn’t even have the necessary ingredients for a PB&J. Well, I did have the PB&J, but have you ever tried spreading it on Wheat Chex? I guess I’ve been spoiled by the cool weather we’ve had this summer, because I am totally not adjusting well to temps in the mid-ninties. They say older people really can’t tell it is too hot out. Trust me, I still know HOT, and it was a scorcher today! And trying as hard as I could, I couldn’t find any shade along the streets to shelter the swelter. To top off the misery, today had an orange air alert making basic breathing difficult. Even Mlle. Renee didn’t want to go outside today. And she always ready to check what’s going on in the neighborhood.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA   Yesterday, I used the photo on the left in the Weekly Photo Challenge. It was a picture of a very young Renee and her first friend in the neighborhood, who was named Muffin and lived in the house that bordered the open lot between us. Muffin also had a crush on Renee.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

He could also get his little nose through the chain link fence. Renee could not. He also could sneak under the fence around his yard and visit Renee whenever she was in the yard. But, as you can see, it was impossible for him to sneak under the fence around Renee’s yard. So they were limited to licks, nose rubs and racing up and down the fence. They were bosom buddies for about three months that spring and early summer. And then Muffin stopped dropping by to play. It seems like his mistress had been married and had taken Muffin to her new home. And Renee lost her best buddy. Oh, she has had other gentlemen callers, but none really caught her fancy.

ORIGAMI CALENDAR CHALLENGE:  Did you forget that it’s the WEEKEND?  That’s when the calendar makers fill the page with a lot of blah, blah, blah that seldom has anything to do with the art of origami. So come back on Monday.

MY DAILY CALENDAR FOR SUNDAY, DAY 236 OF 2013: Today I decided not to tempt fate and heat from the sun by going outside. Renee went out about a half hour ago and she was panting like she had run a doggie marathon when she came in. She drank some cool water from her bowl and then went to her terry towel to lay down. Since I didn’t trust the support beams of a house built 101-years ago, I have a small circulating fan in the room to move the AC output around. She made sure she was right in the cool air flow and in a couple of minutes she was cool and snoring. She’s a right smart dog.

Being a driven human, I  folded the laundry, put it away and decided to catch up with my stamp collection. To follow up with my recent share some art on weekends, I like to show you this recent USPS commerative stamp issue.MA

So what artwork gets your stamp of approval.

And by the way,  Overhead the moon was beeming … tonight!Moon

And it made me want to sing!

But Mlle. Renee wouldn’t let me.

(Back when I was in my early 20’s I had a fairly decent tenor voice, but not that good.)

  1. Awww, I’m sorry Renee lost her first boyfriend. But I’ll bet she’d give up a million boyfriends in happiness that you’re her forever person.
