MY DAILY CALENDAR…DAY 237 – AUGUST 26, 2013
MY DAILY CALENDAR FOR MONDAY, DAY 237 OF 2013: Well the temp reached 97F this afternoon, and except for going out to bring the trash cart in the house Mlle. Renee and I have stayed inside with the AC. For the past half hour the smoke/CO detector in the basement has been chirping for a battery change. I’ll fix that when I fixing dinner tonight. Something tells me that will be a frozen Stouffer entre. My in/out weather station also tells me showers are due. It has been cloudy off and on all day, but not enough to bring the temp down. I matched the high school seniors on Jeopardy question for question today and then topped them by John Wadsworth Longfellow as the author of the epic poem Song Of Hiawatha. Hell, I can still recite the section that I learned in grade school. By the shores of Gitche Gumie, By the shining big sea waters, Stood the wigwam of Nokomis, Daughter of the moon Nokomis, Dark behind rose the forest, Rose the firs … with something or other. What do you expect? I was 12-years old when I had to recite that! And today’s high school seniors don’t even know who Longfellow was. They probably can’t even recite Poe’s Raven or Annabel Lee. They probably even think Hemingway wrote No man is an island, instead of John Donne. You probably know I’m going to go and look up Hiawatha to see what it was that I forgot.
