MY DAILY CALENDAR FOR MONDAY, DAY 266 OF 2013: With luck, I might just be able to get some of the grass cut. That is if I have the energy to drag the power mower and extension cords out of the house. Except for the hill on front lawn, it’s all flat walk behind and push the mower around.  Hell, when we first moved here I used an old Scott’s non-power reel mower. grassy-reel-mower It was a lot of work, but it gave the lawn a golf course look. It’s also still sitting back in the garage. Frankly, I’m not as young as I used to be.

From the reel mower I upgraded to the gas mower. I would always start by grabbing the gas can and walking three block to the filling station fill it up for a buck. When it reached the point where a buck failed to fill up the can, I moved on to electric.  The old gas mower is still sitting in the garage, too.

My electric was a LAWN HOG made by Black and Decker.LawnHogAnd it has been my mower of choice for the past ten years. It’s lightweight and gives a smooth cut. Though I think I should start looking into replacing the blade. And okay, I only ran over the power cord one time and cut it in half. It was the cords fault anyway.

But, instead of cutting the grass, I could do the laundry instead. I’m OK on the underwear, but my sock supply is running low.  Don’t snicker, that’s the bachelor laundry code.

THE ORIGAMI CHALLENGE – THE YACHT: Wow, the calendar actually offered something that qualified as a possible origami project.

It wasn’t much of a challenge though, since it only took five simple folds to complete it. But it was better than making an envelope for a birthday card.DSC07728

Since I’m feeling good, I also decided the Mensa Puzzle qualified to be worked on today.DSC07731By the way, I found my old Bookworm bookmark yesterday.

And does this gourd remind you of Veronica Lake?DSCF1113

Opps, I think that might have dated me a bit.

  1. Mensa Puzzle Answer
    1) TURN
    2) SPIN
    3) LETTER
    4) WHEEL
    5) SHOW

  2. Veronica Lake was before my time, but I still know who she was! Perfect comparison. And the bookworm is pretty cute.

    • My niece gave me the bookworm when she first started school. I was a firm believer of giving books as gifts to all the nephews and nieces. And I’m happy to say they are all avid readers.

  3. By the way, Tom still uses a mower like your top photo.
