MY DAILY CALENDAR…DAY 286 – OCTOBER 13, 2013
MY DAILY CALENDAR FOR SUNDAY, DAY 286 OF 2013: Sunday, sweet Sunday, with nothing to do. Lazy and lovely … and what else is new? (Lyrics purloined and adapted from Oscar H.) I was scheduled to go to the open house of my nephew’s new home today, but I was still sniffling so I sent regrets. So I made flaky biscuits for breakfast and I’ve been trying to decide what I would fix for dinner this evening. I really thinking about smothered beef steak and pan-fried potatoes. But if I want that, I better go get the meat out of the freezer. [Pause for food prep] I had a nice chuck steak that will be perfect for some slow cooking. I also realized that I didn’t have any onions fresh or frozen, so I’m rehydrating some chopped onions I always have on hand for emergencies. I think I’ll add diced tomatoes in the sauce, too. (With a splash of bourbon and Louisiana Hot Sauce.) And I changed the pan-fried potatoes to a baked potato.
And it’s juicy, savory and fork tender. My green vegetable will be broccoli.
Hint … the first word in the quip is CAN and the last is PAWNSHOP?
SUNDAY BONUS: In place of an origami offering, I offer you this Fall Photo Treat.
