WEEKEND UPDATE … And would you believe it’s the last weekend in January already?
OK, so we had a bit of sleet early this morning, but the temps actually moved into the mid-40s by afternoon. And tomorrow it’s supposed the reach the mid-50s before the mercury drops again to the polar extremes we’ve been enjoying. OK, I jest!
So you’re probably wondering what I did today. Just Saturday things like cleaning up the kitchen. I’m pretty good as a cook, but somewhat messy in cleanup mode. So I spent the day cleaning up all my little messes. What I don’t understand is why there are always toast crumbs on the floor. Especially when I ‘m sure my crumbs are all contained to the table. I’m sure the blame must fall on Mlle. Renee. You see, she has a passion for a bit of buttered toast in the morn. And you know the commercial that uses the “I can’t believe it’s not butter.” tag line? Well, Renee can tell the difference. When I run out of butter and use margarine on she toast, she refuses to eat it. I actually did a blind taste test using two samples of the same slice of toast. She smelled them both and then ate the butter piece and walked away from the margarine piece. Mlle. Renee is the world’s smartest canine.
Can you see what it is? They really are very comfortable. I’d endorse them … for cleaning house not athletic endeavors.
I used a Christmas gift card to buy the new Criterion digital high definition transfer of Stanley Kramer’s classic Cinerama all-star comedy from the early 60s. In case you’ve never seen it He used a cast of some of the funniest comedy personalities of the 20th century. Stars from the silent films, vaudeville, early talkies, radio and television. Looking at the art from the original film posters, can you identify any of the stars?
You can enlarge the art by clicking on it twice. Extra credit if you can find Andy Devine, Jimmy Durante, the Three Stooges and Zazu Pitts. A gold star if you find Buster Keaton.
