CAN YOU REALLY HAVE SPRING FEVER WHEN IT STILL FEELS LIKE WINTER?
TEMPS IN THE TWENTIES, RAIN FOLLOWED BY SNOW FLURRIES … AND MY NOSE IS RUNNING AGAIN. ONLY THIS TIME IT’S RUNNING FOR ARIZONA!
TODAY’S ORCHID FOR THE FIFTH DAY OF SPRING – I don’t know about you, but the only bit of color and brightness in my days has been these daily orchid photos I’ve been posting as a salute to spring. Today, I’m looking for something with a lot of color.
Wow, those look like they’re almost ready to take flight … on the first plane back to their home in South America. But wait a minute, when spring was supposed to start here … fall was starting in South America. Wonder what the weather is like down there?
COOKING FOR FRIGID TEMPS: Well, since the weather around her has run amok, I decided to make a big batch of my special FIRE BREATHING CHILE CON CARNE. Now my chili is not your thin, watery everyday chili. In got a lot of 90% lean ground beef, red chili beans, onions, garlic, green peppers and fire roasted tomatoes. Not to mention a combination of ten special spices. Nicely spiced, but without burning the roof of your mouth off.
That’s steam rising of the cook pot, not spice fumes! And after tonight I have five more dinners leftover that will hopefully get me through this winter repeat.
THE ORIGAMI BIRD FOR THE FIFTH DAY OF SPRING:In keeping with the South American orchid photos I’ve been featuring from this year’s Missouri Botanical Garden Annual Orchid Show, I decided to make a MACAW the subject of today’s origimi fold. You can call him MAC.
