TODAY IS OFFICIALLY LUMP DAY!

Everyone knows that Wednesdays are commonly referred to as HUMP DAY  because they come in the middle of the week and we know that the rest of the week will all be down hill from that point. But that is an entirely different day from LUMP DAY!  LumpDay copy

Lump Days are those days when you are entirely to lazy to get out of bed. They are days that are aided and abetted by the fact that you turned the thermostat on the heating system down because the outside temps on preceding days had been in the upper 70s and mid-80s and then the outside temp suddenly dropped into the 20s overnight and it’s too damned cold in the house to get out of bed and turn the heat up! (Did I run on a bit with that sentence?)  Anyway, getting down to the lean and mean of it, Mlle. Renee and I slept in this morning. And now, we’re running behind by several hours. And the laundry I was supposed to do today, will have to wait until Friday because I already have baking  and cooking plans for Wednesday and Thursday. You know what Robbie Burns said plans? (No relation to Rob Byrnes renowned writer of hilarious fictions that you should read if you haven’t already. You can read more about both writers on Wikipedia.)  So instead of doing anything serious or worthwhile, I diddle on this page.

SO MOVING ON TO MY SUMMER INSECT ORIGAMI PROJECT OF THE DAY … THE LADYBUG OR LADYBIRD.

Can a bug really be a bird? Apparently so in the British Isles and the southern United States where this is referred to as …Ladybug or Ladybird

LADYBUG or LADYBIRD

This however, is not a green or unripe LADYBUG!This Is Not A Ladybug

IT’S A CUCUMBER BEETLE!

And this is neither …Potato Bug

IT’S A POTATO BUG!

Now that I’ve got my bugs straight, I can go fold an Origami Ladybug! Maybe?Ladybug

“Surely, you jest!?”  You’re saying.  I’m sorry, but the maximum number of black spots you can get by folding the paper for this project is just TWO.  And it took a hell of a lot of folding to get those two.

IN CASE YOU FORGOT  …

TAX

TODAY WAS TAX DAY!

But it’s probably to late for you to do anything about it!  Actually, I received an email from my online tax preparer on February 2 saying the IRS was now accepting tax returns of 2013. Since the weather outside was miserable, I sat down that afternoon and completed both my Federal and State returns and submitted them via the internet. Yes, I got refunds from both that were automatically deposited in my bank account before the month. Actually, it’s so easy to file your return these days, you don’t have time to bitch about it. Which takes all the fun out of life an taxes.

FINALLY,AlmostPaintedClouds

THE SUN CAME OUT TODAY!

IT’S STILL COLD THOUGH!!

  1. It’s been a few years since I did my late-night drive-by of post offices to see the last-minute filers. Even in the computer age with the ease of online filing, it seems to be human nature to procrastinate this most dreaded of activities.
