Yeah, it’s fun to search through boxes of old photos to pick out an embarrassing old photo to post for Throwback Thursday. But it’s really not so nice when Mother Nature decides to play the game using her perverse rules. Sure, she’s been giving us a lot of rain this week … like every day. Good part … drought eliminated around here again.  Bad Part … the backyard resembles the Okefenokee Swamp — only with tall grass in dire need of cutting.okee2And today, she decided to throw a bit of TRICK OR TREAT into the weather combination with a bit of THROWBACK for our THURSDAY!

That’s right, she THREW us BACK to the chill of winter and added a raging hail storm to the torrential rainfall. Renee had been snoozing in the sunshine in the backyard one minute, and the next she was knocking at the back door with her tail between her legs.  That’s her way of saying, “Let me in Rob, there’s a gollywomper* of a storm brewing up out here!!!”

I opened the door and she ran in and made a greyhound-dash to the safety of my bedroom.DSC09905

Where she devoted the rest of the afternoon taking a nap while the storm raged poetically. “Blow, winds, and crack your cheeks! rage! blow! You cataracts and hurricanoes, spout. Till you have drench’d our steeples, drown’d the cocks with pellets of ice … and two more inches of water from the heavens!!!”

And what did I do? Well, not wanting to drown’d my cock with pellets of ice, I jumped in bed and joined her. There wasn’t anything else to do!

Do you think Will will mind me tampering with his poetry?

*I don’t think my friend Jody Feldman will mind me borrowing a GOLLYWOMPER from her THE GOLLYWOMPER GAMES novel.

Oh, by the way, Moms N. has left us with an overnight freeze warning.

  1. Such crazy weather. There’s nothing wrong with spending an idle day snoozing with your favorite canine. I’m sure Renee agrees!
