ALL I KNOW, IS WHEN THE FLUFF FLIES I WHEEZE AND SNEEZE!

This is a Cottonwood tree …cottonwoodTree

It is the fastest-growing native tree in Missouri, reaching 50 feet in height and 8 inches in diameter in as little as 6 years under good conditions. And every spring the female trees of the species fill the skies around my house with a fairy fluff .cottonwood7

And when the fluff flies, it gets into my eyes and they itch and burn while my nose drips, runs and sneezes. All of which makes me feel that I am allergic to the blasted fluff. Not so say the experts, I’m not allergic to the fluff, I’m allergic to the pollen of the cottonwood tree.PollenMixb

And the pollen is too small to see without a microscope. So I say, why couldn’t the teeny tiny pollen spores be hitching a ride on the fairy fluff. All I know is when the fluff flies my life is miserable. Which probably explains why I have been missing a lot of daily post over the past couple of weeks. Also I’ve been staying in the house with my air circulation system on filtered clean air. Unfortunately, my partner (Mlle. Renee) enjoys her daily romps in the yard and I’m convinced she is a pollen magnet.  Especially when she decides to take an afternoon nap on my bed.DSC09911

We’ve talked about various options, but she not keen about a daily vacuuming.

So the most exciting thing I’ve done in the past several weeks was eat a doughnut on a stick.DSC09907

  1. I have an entirely different range of vegetation I’m allergic to in Texas as compared to that in Alabama. And I’m not sure what any of it is, just that I understand your misery.
