30DOC – Origami Butterflies … TUESDAY Day 8

Today, I ventured where I had never gone before in origami. I attempted making s swallowtail butterfly.MoBut5

This is one the local varieties you can find flying around Missouri. But I got a bit creative with the one I created.DSC00109

MY EL DIABLO SWALLOWTAIL BUTTERFLY

Hopefully, with practice, I’ll be able to get both tails to curl the same direction.

I also discover that the drawers in the kitchen cabinet held a treasure of butterfly artifacts I had forgotten about.DSC00113

My mother’s cast iron butterfly trivet.

And the butterfly pin she used to use to pin back the kitchen curtains.

I probably would have found more butterfly tchotchkes, but I think her frogs ate them.DSC00061
