THE DAILY POST WORD PRESS WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE CHANGE

This week, show us a change in progress. This can be done in one or multiple photos — we’ll let you decide! (For more information go here.)DSC01446
This is a photo showing the ultimate final stage of change. When I was 14 years old we moved out of the city and into the suburbs. Four blocks from our house there was a neighborhood independent grocery store. It was a Tom Boy Store, and I was the guy that made the daily runs to pick up a loaf of bread. The CHANGE began when all the houses and other retail buildings to the right of it were torn down for the construction of an interstate highway next to it. The highway construction removed all of the parking spaces in front of  the store. Then the bar and diner next to it caught fire and was torn down. Finally, an A&P Supermarket was opened several blocks away. I suppose I could have kept a photographic record of the decline of the neighborhood store, but who takes pictures of a neighborhood grocery store falling into decline?
