This is the interweb home of Robert and Renee detailing most if not all of their adventures, travels and daily hums and drums around and about the Wicket City. Robert is an almost totally unknown and perhaps even imaginary Off Off Off Broadway (Trust me, there’s a Broadway Street, Blvd or Lane in the smallest towns of Missouri and Kansas) singer/actor, writer, director, producer, photographer, friend, brother, uncle and all round good fellow you really should get to know … who shares a home with the glamourous four-footer, Mlle. Renee.  OK, so who or what in the hell is a Smiling Bagel‽

  1. Hi –

I sent you an e-mail, not sure you received it. Just wanted to thank you again for all your help. We are all moved in and now I get to deal with my empty nest syndrome.

We use your blog, it’s very helpful. Visited the arch and was more impressed than I thought I would be. We even made it to the top and it was worth the claustrophobic panic attack on the way up.

Thanks again and hopefully we can get together for coffee the next time I come in.

  2. Hey Mr Man,

    Happy Birthday!

Hope you have a great day.

  3. Hey Robert, Thanks for stopping by and the follow. I look forward to checking out your Posts, 🙂

  4. Just found an old post of yours regarding the photo with the building that has “Brains 25¢” painted on the side and thought you might be interested in this article about the picture – http://boingboing.net/2010/11/23/drive-in-brains-25c.html

I thought the street sign said Carp Lane Av., too, but you can tell it’s actually Carr Lane Av. in the bigger picture in the article, and there is a Carr Lane Av. in St. Louis. Apparently there’s a hospital there now.

    • Yes, another reader contacted me several months ago about the location of the Brain Store. And I was able to figure out it was just off Grand Avenue. It was torn down and is part of the Saint Louis University Medical Center.

  5. Hi there. I stumbled across your blog looking for McBride High School. My grandfather and his brothers graduated from there and I’ve been trying to track down more information and/or pictures about them from their high school days. Gilbert graduated in 1939 I think and Robert (my grandfather) graduated in 1940. If you maybe knew them or know how I can find McBride memorabilia please email me. Thanks so much!
