31 DOC – Origami Butterflies Are Free … Day 31

Well, I’ve reached the end of my personal 31 Days Of Creativity which centered around butterflies and in particular origami folded paper butterflies. And having reached the end of my challenge, I decided to set the butterflies free to return to nature.

And, after covering the Rose Of Sharon shrubs with folded paper butterflies, I noticed that I was attracting other members of Mom Nature’s family to the area.DSC00326

So, BEEing wise, I decided to retire from the scene.

NOTE: After a month of folding paper butterflies, I have not been able to master the techniques needed to create a butterfly to even come close to the illustration seen on the cover of the instruction manual.Butterfly

31 DOC – Origami Butterflies … Day 29

And as our 31 Days of Origami Creativity slowly draws to a close, I notice I’m  resorting to creating  more and more fictitious butterflies. Hey, if Arthur Conan Doyle could do it, so can I.

31 DOC – Ornamental Butterflies … Day 24

Today, I took a break from folding an origami butterfly, and took the opportunity to enjoy the cool July weather that returned overnight. I went trekking and used my camera to capture images of butterflies I spied on my trek around town.

They both have a center fan segment that catches the wind of twirls. The wind also rotates the butterflies to keep in the direction of the moving wind.

On a somewhat grander scale there was this giant Monarch Butterfly and Blossem made from a multitude of Lego blocks.Monarch

It was part of a special exhibit in the Missouri Botanical Garden in the Climatron which is a multi-level tropical greenhouse encased in a giant geodesic dome. I’ll cover more of my  TREK to the Garden in tomorrow’s and Saturday’s posts. In other words, that means I took a lot of photographs that I have to go through before I can post them. By the way, have you ever seen of CORPSE FLOWER? You will in one of my next posts.

31 DOC – Origami Butterflies … Day 23

For my Wednesday (Day 23  of my 31 Days of Creativity) I folded a gold foil butterfly per a request from a friend.GoldenButtergly

GOLDEN BUTTERFLY

The only problem with foil folding paper is that the reflection of light makes it difficult for photograph. Also, you can’t make any fold corrections.

[Note: I just realized that there are 31 Days in July.]
