DAY 29 – LAYERS

On the second to last day of our month of creativity the theme for today is LAYERS.

I’d like to expand that to LAYERS OF FRIENDS  for my creative project because when you really think about it, that’s what we all have. We have friends at work, friends at school, friends on-line, and even friends we find in books. We have friends that are just like us, and friends that are the total opposite from us. Then there are fantasy friends like Woody and Stan who have been featured in a number of my creative projects this year. I thought it was fitting to let them take a final bow in this salute to friendship.30DOC29-layers

WOODY: Thanks for being my friend and helping out in all the adventures we had this month Stan.

STAN: It was fun, Woody, like we were almost like being a Dynamic Duo.

WOODY: That we were, Stan. We were friends.

Counting your friends is like counting your blessings.

DAY 28 – PIE

Stan Demon takes center stage for the 28th day of creativity … mainly because he’s an expert on today’s theme PIE!

TAKE IT, STAN!DSCF0293

Stan: I like pie … both making and eating it.

And in the summer my favorite is

PERSONAL PBJ ICE CREAM PIE!

And its easy to make, too.  All you need are some individual sized pie tins, good crunchy peanut butter cookies, strawberry swirl ice cream and little meringue cookies.

First, crunch the PB cookies into crumbs and press them into the bottom of each pie tin as a crust.

Next, scoop the soft ice cream on top of the crust in each tin and smooth it out.

Finally, place one of those swirly meringue cookies in the middle of the ice cream.

Cover each pie tin with plastic wrap and return to the freezer until you’re ready to serve.

Its easy, its tasty, its cool!

Day 27 – NOTEBOOK

Without notebooks where would we be?

But then again, where are sometimes with notebooks?

A conundrum faced by the 30DoC Creativity Players on Day 27!

Stan: Hey, where’s our script … and the sets?

Woody: All that’s here is this notebook with creative ideas … and today’s notes are very vague.

Stan: Maybe, there’s more on the next page?

Woody: But we’d have to  find someone tall who could turn the page over.

Werther: Don’t look at me, I’m a WANDERING WIZARD … not a basketball player.

Stan: Cue FINIS card!

DAY 25 -AMPERSAND

AND … how do we express our creativity today?

How do you deal with &s?

How about a bit of fantasy … with Woody and his adventure buddy Stan Demon?

They’re tramping through the jungles of Africa, searching for King Solomon’s treasure … when all of a sudden …

THE AMPERSANDS STRIKE!

DSCF0240Stan: Woody! Help! I’m being swallowed by a pool of amperSANDs …

Woody: AND?

Stan: NO … & and & and if you don’t pull me out I’ll soon be your ex-budmtmd…

Could this be the end of Stan?

I doubt it, because there are still five more days left in June.

DAY 24 – GREEN

I’m going to be a bit more specific about the GREEN topic of today’s challenge …

And say FOLDING GREEN or GREENBACKS or BUCKS or

GREEN BACK DOLLAR BILLS!

Did you know that the life expectancy of a dollar bill is less than a year and a half?

Also it isn’t a paper dollar, it’s 75% cotton and 25% linen.

And while the dollar doesn’t go as far as it did when we were kids!30DOC-24-Green

FOLDING GREEN

It can still go a long way as a tiny elephant, a walking boot and a pilot’s wings!

DAY 21 – NOVEL

Now that’s a topic with a lot of meanings.

But when I think NOVEL, I just look up to the bookshelves that cover one entire wall of my office.

I built them myself, when the room officially became my bedroom.

And the books they’ve held have taken me to more worlds than I could ever hope to visit.DSCF0175HERE’S A NOVEL IDEA …

LET’S READ!

30 DAYS OF CREATIVITY – DAY 16 / TYPE

30daysofcreativity Back when I was a student at Washington University, one of my classes was Advertising Layout and Art Direction. In that class I learned everything there was to know about printing, type, types faces and how to hand letter the copy in the layout for the ad you were creating. I don’t want to age myself, but that was some time after Gutenberg invented the printing press and a long time before Steve Job made the computer a must at every work station in the country. So my day of creativity is a salute to those days of hand layouts, hand lettering and type and type faces.

30 DAYS OF CREATIVITY – DAY 15 / A SMALL BIG THING

30daysofcreativityYesterday’s Creative Challenge ELECTRIC  left special guest star Woody in a very shocking cliffhanging situation where he could be flattened (and unwrinkled) by an oversized ELECTRIC controlled by the uber-villian Snively J. Snark!DSC07583

30 DAYS OF CREATIVITY – JUNE 15, 2013

DAY 15 – A SMALL BIG THING

Just as the steaming iron was about to bring our hero to a rather depressing end ..

Who should appear at the small GIANT Electric Appliance Store, but …

WERTHER, THE WANDERING WIZARD, who looked a lot like …

Famous Artist Leonardo  Da Vinci!

And with a single swizzle of his small, but shimmering

big thing wand …

Werther gestured hypnotically …

And STOPPED the decent of the depressing iron!

DSC07585

And Woody was saved to guest star another day!

(And it wasn’t easy to keep the iron balanced on end, focus the camera  and gesture hypnotically at the same time.)

No action figures were injured in the filming of this flight of fantasy!
