DAILY CALENDAR CHALLENGE #160 – JUNE 9, 2013

#1 THE ORIGAMI CALENDAR CHALLENGE – WEEKEND EDITION

DSC07471 Well, yesterday I completed the tutorial for folding the PIG Base.  And since I was trying to come up with something creative for ninth day of #30 Days of Creativity I decided to combine the two creative projects. The Sunday Theme for 30DOC was ROBOTS.  And, it wasn’t easy! Had no idea that folding a paper robot would be so difficult. My original concept was to make something in the tradition of R2D2 and I ended up with something that was more Wall-E. I started off thinking my robot should have a companion like R2D2 had C3P0. So I added Toy Story’s Woody in the background.

Then I figured people would think Woody was the robot. So, I recast my mini-movie setup as follows …DSC07479

Now I not only have to come up with a name for the robot, I also have the little Pink Mouse who is still nameless as well.

DAILY CALENDAR CHALLENGE #069 – MARCH 10

#1 THE ORIGAMI CALENDAR CHALLENGE – THAT WASN’T!

DSC05859 As I said yesterday, the origami challenge when to the dogs this weekend.  Instead of a challenge the calendar wasted two days with B.S. trivia about a record store I’d never want to visit. Faithful to my mission I spent the weekend foldings puppies and dogs. For today I did another Mlle. Renee … DSC05861

Notice I used a golden-brown paper closer to her natural color.

Yes, I went to Michaels to restock my dwindling origami papers and wiggle eyes. I haven’t looked yet, but hopefully the calendar will have a challenge for Monday.

Since it has been raining here for the past three days, I thought this clip would be a pleasant way  to end the weekend.

He was an early recording star and his 1929 recording of  Singin’ In The Rain was #1 on the pop charts for three weeks. He was a star of stage, screen, radio, television and the recording industry. He died in poverty in 1971 and his unclaimed body was donated to a medical school. His best remembered film roles were the unseen dying soldier in Gone With The Wind and the voice of Jiminy Cricket in Pinnochio. His 1940 recording of WHEN YOU WISH UPON A STAR was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002.

#1 THE ORIGAMI CALENDAR CHALLENGE –  ?   ?   ?   ?DSC05859

This is a weekend advertisement and even if it wasn’t, you can’t fold a vinyl phonograph record. Weekends with this calendar is just going to the dogs. So I decided to fold dogs on my own.DSC05860

For Saturday, I folded my impression of a “quilted” puppy for my sister-in-law who is a quilter extraordinaire.

#2 THE MENSA PUZZLE CALENDAR –  BOOKS, BOOKS, BOOKSDSC05863

Though I often bitch about math puzzles, I just want to let you know that I actually solved this one! And I didn’t use a pencil!

#3 THE PAGE-A-DAY PUZZLE CALENDAR – TRACE OUTDSC05864

I actually was going to save this puzzle for Sunday … but I could see the answer just looking at it. So I save the answer and my solution for tomorrow.

Oh, Paul currently has 34 books.
